Word Search is a classic word puzzle where you find hidden words in a grid of letters. Each day features a new themed category with 8-12 words hidden horizontally, vertically, and diagonally. Click or tap on the first letter of a word and drag to the last letter to select it.

Because every puzzle is pre-generated, we can measure the whole archive at once: 678 daily 12x12 puzzles across 92 themed categories, hiding 6,751 words in total (8 to 12 words per puzzle). Words hide in all 8 directions, and the distribution is deliberately even. Across the archive, 50% of placements run backwards (right-to-left or bottom-to-top) and 49% run diagonally. A scanning habit that only reads left-to-right will miss about half the answers.
That data suggests a better technique than the usual row-by-row sweep. Scan for a word's rarest letter (Q, Z, X, J) rather than its first letter: a Q stands out anywhere in the grid, while a common first letter like S appears dozens of times. Sweep rows for the first letter only when the word starts with an uncommon letter. And check diagonals deliberately, because in these grids they are as common as straight lines.
